My Bollywood Wish

Bollywood is her passion. Since her childhood, fashion designer Rakhi Kapoor was passionate about fashion and style. She loved to sketch. Through the sketches she would give form to her fertile and creative imagination about fashion and design.

Though she did not get formally trained in fashion, her passion and love for sketching taught her the art. The Bollywood style attracted her.

Rakhi immersed herself into fashion designing. With support from her husband, she took a plunge in fashion designing as career after getting married. It has been 12 years since she took to this profession and everything is fortunately running smoothly for her.

Talking about the turning point in her career, Rakhi says, “It came when I started holding my fashion shows along with established brands like Times of India and when I organised them abroad.”

Despite the success coming her way, Rakhi hasn’t got complacent. She wants to infuse more diversity with every new collection.

Moreover, her passion for Bolly-wood is still alive. “I also want to be a part of Bollywood. I want to design more clothes for Bollywood divas,” she says.

Rakhi Kapoor considers Manish Malhotra as her role model. “The manner in which he always designs is unparalleled. He always tries with new patterns,” she excitedly says.

Her message for the newcomers in this profession is short and sweet. “I would love to tell them not to lose heart. No one can stop you if you really have a spark in you. Just keep trying. One day, you will surely achieve your goal.”
